About

maru studio is an independent design office based in Kyoto. It was created in 2012 in London by Sophie Yamamoto, a French graphic designer.

Specialised in art direction and print publishing, we work either independently or with photographers, illustrators, editors, stylists to produce high-quality print publications.

What we’ve done:
– art direction and design of illustrated books and university brochures,
– art direction of photoshoot,
– design promotional material (business cards, logos, flyers and posters) for art events and shop opening,
– put together and manage a team of creatives for books,
– create illustrations.

What we can also do:
– create logo, signage and menu for restaurants, boutique hotels, guesthouses or small shops,
– put together a team and create a magazine (image, promotion)…

In all cases we help you ask yourself the right questions and support you throughout the project.
